What is Carnaval/ History of Carnaval

What isCarnaval?
- Carnaval stands for removing of the meat. It is a celebration, which people dress in masquerade to represent over turning of daily life. The event usually happens right before lent. It invloves a public parade combining circus, masks, and public patries.


Histroy of Carnaval
- Many years ago the Catholic religion in Italy originated a tradition of holding outrageous costume festival right before the day of lent. Since they were not able to eat meat during lent the names this festival "Carnevale". It became so popular that eventually it spread throughout all the Catholic countried in Europe, then it spread throughout the whole world. Carnaval developed in the new world because many of the enslaved Africans came from long standing traditions of dancing to mark important occasions, like Carnaval.
